Planning my photoshoot
Equipment list:
- Canon 600d
- Hamar Star 61 Tripod
- Sandisk SDHC 8gb
- Minimaster Studio Strobe K150 A
- Props: Study notebook, library books
We began the photoshoot in the Library of the school, the first person with the camera decided to have the rest of our group sit down and pretend to read a number of books. Next another member of the group decided to have two of us sat down in a different location of the library reading a book together, then both reading separate books.
We then walked towards the Sixth form common room and stopped off along the way to take pictures with the school's animals. The pictures taken were not used because the models and animals were too far apart so it didn't count as a medium close up, it was more of a long shot also the images were slightly over exposed due to the weather being very clear and bright.
We then went into the common room and found a few of our friends who happily volunteered to be models for our photoshoot. One of the volunteers was doing some studying so we got another member of our group to sit with him and pretend they were studying together. I think these images came out very well, the lighting and the colours all worked very well.
After taking photos of the people studying in the common room we went outside and sat on a bench, the person photographing decided that we should all sit down and pretend to chat and laugh. These images were a bit too dark due to us being underneath trees and in the shade. The photos weren't positioned very well either and in many of the photos the models weren't ready for the picture to be taken, making their faces unsuitable for the magazine.
After we finsihed taking pitures at the bench, we spotted the Bodmin College logo, carved into a rock, so we got one of the people in our group to pose in front of the rock. This photo is good although it is not a medium close-up.
After taking the photo outside the front of school, we went to the creativity block and took photos of some of the people in our group looking at art. These photos were very hard to position well, and the photos we got were okay, but the positioning looked bad.
We then went to the music rooms too find a friend playing the piano, he volunteered to model for us, and we took some pictures of him playing it. These pictures were really nice, although the lighting was abit off, and in the background you can see alot of instruments that look very messy, meaning that we would have to crop the mess out. We then went into the instrument room and two of us picked up the guitars, the pictures of the two of us with guitars failed abit due to my guitar covering the face of the model behind me. Then the group got some pictures of me playing a guitar. These pictures were quite nice, but the flash from the camera reflected off the guitar alot, and I had a slightly shiny face, so with editing, the pictures look really good.
Lastly we went to a couple of classrooms from different departments and took pictures of people in lesson, with the teachers teaching. This gives a natural look and the photos are very good as you can see all the students watching the teacher (excluded one or two that looked at the camera) and you can see the teachers talking and explaining the work. The lighting in two of the classrooms was mainly artificial light, meaning that the pictures looked slightly orangey-yellow and very artificial, this can be corrected using photoshop.
Overall I think the photoshoot went really well, we got alot of pictures that we could each use and there is a wide variety of photos.
